Comfort Stitchers

Comfort Stitchers is a small group ministry of the congregation that meets at Shepherd on Thursday mornings at 9:30am.  We welcome and teach new participants. Shepherd Knitters reaches out to the community and the congregation by creating knitted, crocheted and quilted items. For example, in 2006 the group made bandages for tropical ulcer patients. This program, carried out by Lutheran churches across the U.S., was so successful that Global Health Ministries found they had more bandages than was needed.

From time to time, as the need arises, the group knits shawls for ailing worshipers. The blessed shawls, called prayer shawls, are given with the collective prayers of the congregation. The group also creates blankets for the bunk beds at the Boulder Shelter for the Homeless, which are sponsored by individual worshipers.
